How to Choose a D2C Marketing Agency in Delhi NCR

How to choose a D2C marketing agency in Delhi NCR: what to decide first, 12 questions to ask, red flags, and what a good first month looks like.

Meeting table with notebooks, a checklist and sticky notes seen from above

Search "digital marketing company in Delhi" or "digital marketing agency in Noida" and you'll get hundreds of results, and nearly all of them claim to do everything. The way through is to work out what your brand needs before the first call, decide whether an agency is even the right kind of help, and then ask every agency on your shortlist the same twelve questions. A good one will answer in plain language and in rupees, and you'll still own your accounts, content and data at the end of it.

We wrote this for founders and marketing heads in Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad. We're an agency too, so keep that in mind. It's the checklist we'd want a brand to use on us.

Step 1: Decide what you need before you talk to anyone

Agencies tend to sell you whatever they're best at. So before you speak to any of them, note down where you are, what's missing and what you can spend.

Your stage. A brand that hasn't launched needs a store, product content and a launch plan. A brand that's already selling needs better ads, more creative and a store that converts. A brand that's scaling needs a steady flow of creative, cleaner tracking and someone to run tests every week.

Your gaps. Maybe it's product photos and ad creative. Maybe nobody is running your Meta and Google Ads properly, or the Shopify store is leaking orders. Be specific, because "we need marketing" gets you vague proposals back.

Your budget, in two parts. Agency fees and ad spend are separate. Ad spend is paid to Meta or Google directly. The agency fee pays for the people, the content and the management. Decide both numbers before you compare proposals, or you'll end up comparing an all-in quote with a fees-only one.

If you're still working out the basics of selling direct, start with our guide to D2C marketing in India and come back to this one.

Step 2: Agency, freelancers or in-house?

There's no single right answer, and the table below is how we'd compare them.

Aspect Agency Freelancers In-house team
Best for Brands that need several skills at once (ads, content, store, creators) One clear gap, like a store build or ad management Brands with steady volume and a long-term plan
Speed to start Fast, since the team already exists Fast for one skill; slower to assemble several Slow, as hiring takes months
Coordination The agency coordinates its own people You coordinate everyone You manage everyone
Cost shape A monthly retainer plus project fees Per project or per month, per person Salaries, tools and management time
Risk Depends on who actually works on your account Depends on one person's availability Hiring the wrong person is expensive
Knowledge stays with you? Only if you own the accounts and files Same Yes, if people stay

Many brands mix these: an agency for ads and content, a freelancer for a one-off store fix, and one in-house marketer who owns the plan. That works well as long as someone on your side owns the numbers.

Step 3: Twelve questions to ask every agency

Ask each agency on your list the same questions and write down what they say. A vague answer tells you something as well.

  1. Who will actually work on my account? Names and roles, not "our team". Ask whether the people in the pitch are the people who do the work.
  2. How do you report results? Look for reporting in rupees: revenue, contribution, cost per order, return on ad spend. Likes and impressions on their own don't pay the bills. Our post on ROAS, break-even ROAS and what to measure explains which numbers matter.
  3. Who owns the ad accounts, Pixel, store and content? You should. The Business Manager, ad accounts, Shopify store and Google Drive should all sit in your name, with the agency given access.
  4. How do you handle usage rights for creator content? If creators make videos for your ads, the rights should be agreed in writing before filming. Our guides on UGC and barter collaborations explain why.
  5. What's the contract length, and how do I exit? A notice period is normal. A long lock-in with no performance review is not.
  6. How often do you refresh ad creative? Ads wear out. Ask how many new creatives you'll get each month and where they come from.
  7. Do you shoot in-house, or outsource it? Either can work. What you want to know is who's in charge of quality and deadlines.
  8. What's included, and what costs extra? Shoots, models, creator fees, apps, stock music, travel. Get it in writing.
  9. Can I speak to a current client? One reference you can call beats a wall of logos. If the agency can't share names because of confidentiality, ask how else they can show their work.
  10. How do you handle claims and compliance? Beauty, wellness and food brands have strict rules on what they can claim. Influencer posts need clear disclosure under ASCI guidelines. A good agency will flag risky claims before they go out.
  11. What will the first 90 days look like? You want a concrete plan: what gets fixed first, what gets tested, and when you review progress together.
  12. How do you price? A fixed retainer, a project fee, a percentage of ad spend, or a mix. Make sure the pricing doesn't reward the agency for spending more of your money without results.

Red flags to walk away from

  • Guaranteed results. Nobody can guarantee sales, followers or a set return on ad spend. Anyone who promises it is guessing, or planning to buy fake numbers.
  • The agency owns your ad account or store. If they leave, your data and history leave with them.
  • Reporting you can't understand. If the monthly report is a wall of screenshots with no conclusion, nobody's thinking about your business.
  • Long lock-ins with no review point. You should be able to review the relationship at least every quarter.
  • No D2C experience. Lead generation for a real estate project and selling skincare online are different jobs. Ask for examples in categories like yours.
  • Reviews that don't add up. A burst of five-star reviews with no detail is worth less than a few specific ones.
  • "We do everything" with no specifics. Ask how many people do each thing.

Does a local agency matter in Delhi NCR?

Sometimes. Being close by helps in a few practical ways.

  • Shoot days. Dropping products at the studio and checking the set yourself is much easier when it's a short drive.
  • Kick-offs and reviews. Sitting in the same room for the first workshop and for quarterly reviews makes the working relationship easier.
  • Local knowledge. Delhi's wholesale markets, Noida's manufacturing sectors, Gurugram's funded-startup scene and Ghaziabad's factories all have different starting points.

That said, most day-to-day work runs on calls, shared dashboards and WhatsApp wherever the agency sits. We'd pick on skill and fit first and count being nearby as a bonus.

What a good first month looks like

Whoever you hire, by the end of the first month you should have seen the following.

  • An audit. Ad accounts, tracking, store, content and social media, checked end to end. If your store is part of the problem, our checklist for a Shopify store with no sales is a good preview of what a store audit covers.
  • Tracking fixed. Pixel and Conversions API set up properly, so the numbers can be trusted.
  • A written 90-day plan. What gets tested, what content is needed and what success looks like in rupees.
  • The first creative batch. New ads or content actually in production. A strategy deck on its own doesn't count.
  • A clear rhythm. Weekly updates and a monthly review, with names on each task.

If four weeks go by with none of this, say something early.

FAQs

How much does a digital marketing agency in Delhi NCR cost?

It depends on what's included. Compare agency fees and ad spend separately, and check what counts as extra, such as shoots, models and creator fees. Our own monthly engagements start at ₹1 lakh plus ad spend.

Should I hire an agency or build an in-house team?

If you need several skills at once and want to start quickly, an agency usually makes sense. If you have steady volume and a long-term plan, building an in-house team can work better. Many brands keep one in-house marketer who owns the plan and works with an agency.

Who should own my ad account and store?

You should. The agency should work inside your Business Manager, ad accounts and store with access you grant, so you keep the data and history if you ever change partners.

How long before I see results from a new agency?

It depends on your starting point. Fixing tracking and the store can show up quickly; new creative and audience tests take a few weeks of data. Agree review points in the first 90-day plan rather than expecting a fixed timeline.

Is a local agency better than a remote one?

Local helps with shoot days and in-person reviews. We'd still put D2C experience and clear reporting ahead of distance.
